Cost drivers

What affects how much you pay

The ranges above are directional. Here is what moves the actual number for your hire.

Seniority

The biggest driver. Entry-level runs 20–30% below the ranges shown. Senior and lead-level roles run 30–50% higher.

Country

Argentina and Brazil run slightly higher for tech and finance. Colombia and Peru are often more cost-efficient for admin and support roles.

English fluency

C1+ proficiency commands a 10–20% premium versus basic fluency. For client-facing roles it is worth it. HireLATAM screens for this before you see anyone.

Scope

A bookkeeper doing data entry is cheaper than one managing QuickBooks, reconciliations, and U.S. GAAP. Define the scope early to get accurate estimates.

Full-time vs. part-time

Most LATAM hires are full-time (40 hrs/week). Part-time is possible but the hourly rate runs 15–25% higher than the full-time equivalent.

Benefits stipend

Most contractors are not entitled to local benefits. Many U.S. companies add $50–$150/month for internet and health coverage, which helps retention significantly.

Recruiting fee

How HireLATAM's fee works

Most LATAM staffing agencies charge a percentage of first-year salary. HireLATAM does not.

Flat $3,500 per placement. No percentage. No monthly fees.

You pay $500 to start the search. The remaining $3,000 is due only when you make a hire. If the hire does not work out within 90 days, we replace at no additional cost.

Compare that to percentage-based agencies: Near and Somewhere charge 18–35% of first-year salary. On a $2,000/month hire ($24,000/year), that is $4,320–$8,400 in fees versus $3,500 flat. For higher-salaried roles, the savings are even greater.

Common questions

Questions about LATAM hiring costs

Most U.S. companies hire LATAM professionals as independent contractors under a services agreement. This means no payroll taxes, no benefits obligations, and no need for a local entity or employer of record. The hire is responsible for their own local tax filings. HireLATAM advises on setup during onboarding. Payroll management is available as an optional add-on if you want local compliance.
Most clients pay LATAM hires directly via Wise or Payoneer. Transfers are straightforward, low-fee, and arrive in the hire's local currency. HireLATAM walks you through setup during onboarding. No EOR platform or international payroll infrastructure is required for independent contractor arrangements.
Yes. The ranges shown are directional for mid-level professionals. What you ultimately pay depends on the candidate's experience, scope of the role, and specific country. HireLATAM will advise on a competitive offer based on your shortlist and current market conditions.
For most professional roles, U.S. companies save 50 to 70 percent on base salary compared to equivalent U.S. hires. Tech roles at senior levels tend to save closer to 55 to 65 percent. The savings are real but vary by role, seniority, and country.
For most professional roles, salaries are comparable across both regions. The Philippines can run slightly lower on some entry-level support roles. Latin America is often comparable or lower for specialized roles in finance, operations, and marketing, and offers full U.S. time zone overlap without night shift requirements. See the full comparison on our LATAM vs Philippines page.
Active sourcing for your specific role, multi-stage vetting (role fit, English fluency, remote readiness), a curated shortlist of 3 to 5 pre-qualified candidates, hands-on support through offer and onboarding, and a 90-day free replacement guarantee. No monthly fees, no percentage of salary. 100% of the hire's salary goes directly to them.
